taught by Glenna Mageau

Course description

Create a Catchy Fiction Book Blurb

It's all in the story...

Writing the fiction book blurb can be daunting, overwhelming and stressful.

But it doesn't have to be.

Do you know that without a compelling fiction book blurb, you're likely to lose readers?

The Simple Steps to Writing a Compelling Fiction Book Blurb will help you to pull the elements that are key to grabbing the reader's attention.

In this course you will learn:

  • fiction and nonfiction book blurbs - What's the difference?
  • the layout that is essential to grab the reader's attention
  • five things key to your fiction book blurb
  • when to start
  • where to keep your focus

The Set-up, Capture and Intrigue are the components that are key to making your fiction book blurb stand out. They are the missing link that gives the reader a glimpse inside the pages of your story. Its not always easy to determine what those elements are or how to put them together so they sound interesting, intriguing and enticing... but it is possible.

Grab the reader with your words and entice them to read your novel.

Well presented mini-course on writing book blurbs. Glenna Mageau has captured the essence of how to do this, quite frankly, annoying task; not upon completion of story? Well who knew? And it makes sense. Her presentation is clear, the pace is well thought out; you can watch all the video presentations in one sitting, or one a day. Her voice is easy to listen to - a definite bonus when someone is talking to you - and doesn't contain that over-zealousness you sometimes get from teachers online. I will be adding this to my Favourites and returning to it again when I need to do my blurbs. Thank you Ms. Mageau.

Thankyou Glenna. The content was clearly presented and easy to understand. I am a newbie writer in process, I was thrilled to discover that I should be working on my blurp as I write. Not leaving it to the end. I think this will really help overall, I was getting a little lost in the details.

It's never too late to learn

This short, but straightforward and clearly laid out course on writing a fiction book blurb is well worth doing. I have been writing fiction for over ten years and have always struggled with writing the blurb. Now I have a much better idea of how to structure the blurb on my back page to attract a reader's attention. I can recommend all independent writers to take the course, even experienced authors.

An Absolute Must for Fiction Writers

Without a doubt this course by Glenna Mageau is the most down to earth, precise and easily understandable course for writing the Fiction Book Blurb, which I have previously struggled with despite other tutorials. I have taken on board Glenna's suggestion that the time to think about writing the blurb is when you commence writing the story and not when you have finished it. Makes a lot more sense, and saves much time and angst than going back and tying things together after the big brain dump. Definitely going to implement this with the new book I am currently writing. I have now updated the blurbs on three of my novels in no time at all. They read much better after Glenna's instruction and were easy to put together. Thank you so much for making this available to authors Glenna.
